Know Our Library


TNPESU University Library was established during the year 2007 and, upto 2017 the Library functioned in the temporary building in the administrative and academic blocks. During the year 2018 the University Library was shifted to a two storied new Building with a total carpet area of 6772 Sq. Ft (629.11sq.mts.) located on at the western side in the university campus. Internally this university library is divided into following sections: Circulation, Technical Processing, Reading Hall, e-Library, Periodical, Stack and Thesis section. The university central library occupies an indispensable Place in the Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, which enhances Teaching, Research and Development activities. It is a lively placed department on the campus providing resources in a user-friendly environment to enable learning and advancement of knowledge and whereby discovering new insights in all the academic programmes offered in this university.

Mission

The mission of this University Library is to "facilitate creation of new knowledge through acquisition, organization, and dissemination of knowledge resources and providing for value added services to the university clients".

"To provide quality published literature and library services in time".

Authority

The University Library shall be located in the main campus and it shall be under the control of a University Librarian who is directly responsible to the Vice-Chancellor as per Chapter VII (15) of University Statutes.

Library Committee

The University Library Committee was constituted by the Vice-Chancellor of TNPESU. The members of the committee are The Vice-Chancellor as Chairperson, One Syndicate Member, three faculties as Members nominated by the Vice-Chancellor representing UG, PG/Research programmes, Deputy Librarian as Secretary, and One External University Librarian as Member.

  1. The Library Committee would meet once in every quarter to review the Library affairs.
  2. The Library Committee earmarks the funds for the purchase of books and Journals for all departments.
  3. The minutes of meeting shall be recorded and be circulated to all members.
  4. The Vice-Chancellor can recommend a replacement for a member who withdraws from Library Committee. No members shall serve the Committee for more than two consecutive terms.
  5. The Library Committee shall be reconstituted once in every three years.
Functions of the Library Committee

The main functions of the library committee are:

  1. To evaluate the department wise book/journals purchase and allocation of budget accordingly.
  2. To advise the management on policy matters relating to the development of the library.
  3. To review requirements of the new programs introduced and advise management about financial assistance.
