CIRCULATION

The circulation service is an important service provided to all members at the circulation desk in the university library. This university library is fully automated with library automation software.

  1. The number of books entitled to different type of library members is as follows:
  2. The registered members are allowed to borrow all the text books on loan shelved in the stack section on the ground floor as per their entitlements.

  3. The readers should check the book thoroughly for missing pages, chapters, pictures, etc., while borrowing the book.
  4. Books in damaged condition will not be accepted from the reader. Mutilated or spoiled books will have to be replaced by the borrower
  5. Books issued will not be accepted back on the same day.
  6. The members should return the borrowed books within the stipulated date specified in the due date slip. The loan period for different membership category is specified below:

  7. Books are reissued or renewed only if there are no claims.
  8. Book(s) may be renewed for a further period of 14 days provided the book(s) is/are not under reservation. Renewal can be executed by production of the book(s) on the issue counter for the locally placed users. Distantly placed users may renew the book(s) by telephone or email by mentioning the correct information about the book(s).
  9. Not more than two consecutive renewals are allowed for the same book(s) by its production on the issue counter for inspection.
  10. All the members are allowed to reserve their required book, which is under circulation.
  11. The first reminder will be sent immediately after the due date; the second will be sent after 14 days of the first reminder. If the book(s) is/are not returned within 14 days of the second reminder, action will be taken to recover the book(s) as per university rules.
  12. If a book is not returned within due date, an overdue charge @Rs.1/- per day will be collected from the members, namely students and research scholars as under:

  13. The overdue charges will be levied for them as per the general overdue charge collection procedure, and defaulters should pay the fine through cash to the circulation desk in charge. A receipt will be issued immediately for the fine amount collected from the members.
  14. The university faculty and staff are exempt from overdue charges for the total period of days from the due date.
  15. A gate pass will be issued by the circulation desk staff for a book issued to a member. The members should hand over the gate pass to the security for proof of borrowing. The security person after verification of the gate pass with the number of books borrowed, will deliver the books, keeping the gate pass for record.
  16. The borrowing facility can be withdrawn or restricted in case of misbehaviour or misuse of the library.
  17. If a borrower has lost a book immediately, it should be intimated in writing to the Librarian stating the reasons for the loss.
  18. A new copy or the latest edition may be replaced for the lost book(s).
  19. Within 3 months he has to complete the above mentioned tasks.
  20. Further, if he/she is not able to return the book(s), he/she has to pay twice the cost of the book if it is less than 5 years old, three times the cost of the book if the book is out of print, plus 10% of the book cost as library service charge plus the overdue charges if any.
  21. All the registered members have to clear all kinds of pending library dues against their account and produce the prescribed No Dues Certificate at the Circulation Desk for obtaining the Library Clearance Certificate.
  22. Unless otherwise stated, no due certificate will be issued to the members once all the library dues are cleared by the members. And he/she has to surrender the library membership card to receive the no-due certificate.
  23. The circulation incharge has to certify that the members have returned all the borrowed resources from University Library: upon that, the Deputy Librarian will sign in the 'No Due Certificate'. Once if the certificate is ready, it will be issued to the individual concerned at the circulation desk.
  24. Members are not allowed to sub-lend the book(s) borrowed from the ibrary to any other person.
  25. Books on loan with members of the university library under any category can be recalled by the Deputy Librarian at any time.
